The sixth sense
We are so used to constantly and compulsively thinking that we don’t even realize that thinking is not the only way to be in the world.
In fact, some Tibetan traditions call thinking our sixth sense. They appreciate that thinking, like the other senses is just another tool to interact with the world, but that it is not primary to the other senses.
This is an important distinction but it’s a difficult one to make in practice when thinking first and foremost is our habitual way of existing in the world.
